Tell the Obama Administration to Keep Manatees Protected as Endangered

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) has proposed reclassifying manatees in the U.S. as threatened rather than their current status of endangered under the Endangered Species Act. Manatees continue to face increasing threats of habitat loss, pollution, and boat strikes--all factors in their original listing of endangered. The population has not recovered sufficiently to warrant lowering protections and, in fact, documented manatee deaths have increased substantially since the last report of their population's health.

Please submit your comment today and ask Interior Secretary Jewell and USFWS Director Ashe to stand up to the special interests seeking to lower these protections and keep manatees protected as endangered.
