USFWS: Deny the Import Permit for Black Rhino Hunt
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is considering a request to import the "trophy" black rhino killed after being won in an auction. The Dallas Safari Club auctioned off a hunting permit in 2013 for a chance to shoot and kill a highly endangered Namibian black rhino. The organization contends that this killing of a highly endangered species benefits conservation as the funds allegedly went to conservation efforts, but with only 5,000 black rhinos left in the world this is not a supportable postiiton.
The winner of the auction has now requested an import permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in order to bring the rhino trophy back into the United States.
Please urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to deny the application for the import permit.
